Athletes, broadcasters, and prominent names in business gathered for the 10th Annual Celebrity Sports Mixer charity event at the Hockey Hall of Fame. The 450+ guests had a chance to rub elbows with hockey stars such as Dion Phaneuf, Darryl Sittler and Wendel Clark and other notable names such as Bruce Croxon of “Dragons’ Den”.
The event raised net proceeds of $226,094, with funds going toward our signature program, ComKids. The Program, which runs from Grade 7 through high school provides kids with brand-new laptops, Internet connections and Toronto Police officer mentorship. To date ComKids has provided computers and police mentorship to over 2,300 kids.
“This fun evening brings together big names from the sports and business communities to raise money for local students who don’t have access to home computer.” said Clayton Shold, Executive Director, “When they hear our kids speak tonight, they appreciate the impact of their contribution.”
Special attendees this year also included Deputy Chief Mark Saunders, hockey legend Johnny Bower, and the Masters of Ceremonies, Gurdeep Ahluwalia from TSN and Pooja Handa from CP24.
