Scott Paterson is a prolific entrepreneur and financier focused on technology and media. Mr. Paterson is currently active in Fintech, as Executive Chairman of FutureVault Inc, artificial intelligence, as a Board member of Verses AI Inc (NEO:VERS), crypto, as a Board member of FUTR Network Inc., e‐commerce, as a Board member of Giftagram Inc and, the creator economy, as Chairman of QYOU Media Inc (TSXV:QYOU).
Mr Paterson has been a keynote speaker on behalf of countless organizations including Mastercard, EY Entrepreneur of the Year and the National Angel Capital Organization. Mr Paterson was awarded Western University’s top Alumni Purple & White Award in 2000. He had a chapter dedicated to him in Peter C Newman’s #1 best seller: Titans, was profiled in Time Magazine as ‘One of Canada’s 21st Century Leaders’, was profiled in Newsweek as ‘One of 17 People to Watch Globally’.
Mr. Paterson served on the Board of Lionsgate Entertainment (NYSE:LGF.A) for 21 years and serves today on the Board of Lions Gate Media Canada LP. Paterson co‐founded JumpTV Inc in 2005 and led the company’s IPO led by Morgan Stanley in 2006. JumpTV acquired NeuLion in 2008 and the company was sold to Endeavor Group (NYSE:EDR) for US $250 million in 2018. He co‐founded Symbility Solutions in 2004 and served as Board Chair. The company was acquired by CoreLogic Inc. for $162 million in 2018.
From 1995 until 2001, Mr. Paterson built Yorkton Securities into Canada’s preeminent technology bank. He has served as Vice Chair of the Toronto Stock Exchange, Chair of the Venture Exchange and a Governor of the Investment Dealers Association (now CIRO). Mr. Paterson has served as a Trustee of the Art Gallery of Ontario, obtained his ICD.d designation as a graduate of the Institute of Corporate Directors at Rotman School of Management, earned a Certificate in Entertainment Law from Osgoode Hall Law School and holds an active ACTRA membership.
Mr. Paterson has served on the Board of Directors for companies listed on the NYSE, TSX, TSXV, NEO and AIM (UK) and has served on and chaired Audit, Risk, Compensation, Nominating and Governance Committees. Today, he serves as a Governor of Ridley College and Chair of ComKids charity, both for over 25 years.
