During the ComKids program, Youth will complete 5 Workshop sessions with a facilitator and ComKids team member present. Attendance to these sessions is mandatory to remain in the Program. These Programs include: Digital Skills Training and Connectivity, Online Safety, Promoting Mental Health and Well-being and Empowering Academic Participation and success for future life.
Inspiration Games is a day to celebrate and acknowledge the achievements of students successfully completing the Program.
This fun-filled day includes lively programming including: awards, scholarships, entertainment, speakers, food, a photo booth area and more.
Technology and digital literacy are essential to the success of today’s Youth, yet we continue to see students with academic potential who do not have the same access to technology and connectivity as their peers.
That’s why the ComKids program was established in 1998 to level the playing field for Youth by providing technology and support in the form of digital literacy and mentorship so they have the means to succeed in their academic career and future lives.
The ComKids Program:
1) Provides new technology (and connectivity if needed) to Youth.
2) Offers comprehensive programming and workshops that compliment the provision of the technology with mentorship and educator support through monthly Master Class sessions designed to assist Youth in developing digital literacy skills, and learning to use their computers in a safe, meaningful and effective way for the present and future. Content is provided in partnership with trusted partners Telus Wise, Springboard, Google and Civix.

Our Program runs from grade school age (Grades 7 – 12). Students enroll in approximately Grade 7, and remain connected throughout their high school years. Following high school graduation students transition to become ComKids alumni.
More than 10,000 Youth and their families have been supported to date, with more new Youth having enrolled in the program in the last four years than in all the previous years combined. Demonstrating the great need for the ComKids Program to help out Youth thrive in the increasingly digital world.
